Interpretation

 Simultaneous interpretation

This is an interpretation method where an interpreter starts interpreting at almost the same time a speaker starts talking.

The average lag time between the speaker and interpreter is 2 to 3 seconds, which makes it suitable when you would wish to proceed with a project etc. promptly.

The simultaneous interpreter listens to the voice of the speaker à converts the language à conveys the converted language to the listener, which requires very advanced skills and concentration. Therefore, multiple interpreters work in turn, around every 15 minutes. On average, 2 to 3 interpreters are required for projects of under 3 hours, and 3 to 4 interpreters for projects of 3 to 8 hours.

It is necessary to arrange special equipment to listen to simultaneous translation.

 Consecutive interpretation

An interpreter rounds up and interprets what a speaker has said after the speaker has finished talking. Almost the same length of time used by the speaker is allotted to the interpreter for interpretation.

This is suitable for a project with a small number of speakers (1 to 2), and when you have ample time to proceed. If a speaker talks for 1 hour, a further hour is required for interpreting, so please ensure the actual time allowed will be 2 hours. On average, 1 to 2 interpreters are required for projects of under 3 hours, and 2 to 3 interpreters for projects of 3 to 8 hours.

We can offer you experienced interpreters for important occasions such as seminars, workshops, and company and business meetings.

  • For project where you have sufficient time to proceed
  • Small number of speakers
  • Small scale meetings
  • Need to minimize costs

 Whispering interpretation

An interpreter interprets and whispers to listeners at almost the same time as a speaker talks. This is suitable for small scale meetings where there are few listeners. If the number of listeners is 1 to 2, the interpreter will be allocated next to them, and if there are more than 3 listeners, a simple guiding system will be used. This is similar to simultaneous interpreting, but can be more difficult because the interpreter must sometimes listen to the real voice of the speaker (not via a microphone etc.) For whispering interpreting, multiple interpreters take turns and each handle around 15 minutes. On average, 1 to 2 interpreters are required for projects under 3 hours, and 2 to 3 interpreters for projects between 3 and 8 hours.

  • Small meeting with a small number of listeners.
  • When people who have different first languages need to listen to Japanese speakers.

 Attend interpretation

Interpretation for an inspection tour or a courtesy call etc., alongside traveling.

The interpretation method used is the same as for the successive and whispering methods. Moreover, there may be a lower volume of interpretation, due to the travel time. However, a professional manner and courtesy are often required, as well as advanced interpretation skills, because the clients are often VIP.
